Greencastle-Antrim football alumnus Jared Smith was recently waived by the Seattle Seahawks but picked up for their practice squad a few days later.

Smith, who played college ball at the University of New Hampshire, was drafted in the seventh round of the spring NFL Draft by Seattle. On Saturday, Aug. 31, the Seahawks waived the lineman. Smith was among 17 Seahawks to be waived from the team as teams had to reduce to the league-mandated 53-player roster. Smith cleared waivers and was signed to the Seattle practice squad the following Monday.

Smith was converted by the Seahawks to the offensive line. He played on the defensive line for New Hampshire.
