The Phoenix Suns will be back in black in the 2022-23 NBA season.

On Monday morning, before the team's Media Day for the upcoming season, the team unveiled a black Nike Statement Edition uniform that it said "will remain in the rotation for multiple seasons."

It replaces the orange Statement uniform that was introduced in 2019.

The black uniform keeps the Suns in black after the team won't be wearing the popular "Valley" City Edition uniform this season. The team wore that the two previous seasons.

The City Edition uniforms were only meant to be worn for one season.

The black uniform keeps the Suns in black after the team won't be wearing the popular "Valley" City Edition uniform this season after wearing it for the two previous seasons.

A release from the Suns said:

"Building on the Valley motif rather than abandoning it for a completely new design, the Suns are bringing back the distinctive sunrise/sunset gradient on a black chassis with the new Nike Statement Edition uniform, presented by PayPal, to start the 2022-23 NBA season.

"The Statement Edition uniform … capture Phoenix’s vibrant colors, cityscape and community. For the first time since the 2018-19 season, the jersey features a bold “PHX” across the chest."

Jordan Brand is featured on the Nike Statement Edition uniforms for the third season.

The Jumpman mark on the upper right chest flanks the PayPal jersey patch on the upper left. PayPal has been the Suns' patch partner since 2018.

The gradient design continues on the short's trim and the outline of SUNS is in bold lettering along the length of each side.

The Suns will introduce the Statement uniform when the team opens the 2022-23 season against the Dallas Mavericks at Footprint Center on Oct.19.
