Devils drop rival Indians on football field

Greencastle-Antrim made the most of a rivalry game Friday, taking a 49-14 victory to the bank over Waynesboro. The Mid-Penn Conference Colonial Division win also got the Blue Devils on track to finish .500 overall.
G-A (4-5, 3-3 MPC-Colonial) will take its rivalry the other way Monday by traveling to Mercersburg for a divisional game with the James Buchanan Rockets.
The Blue Devils built a 21-7 lead in the first quarter and battled through a penalty-plagued game (186 yards combined by both teams) to widen the advantage. Josh Young took an Austin Scott pass 63 yards for the first score and Scott and Ashtin Byers each scored on runs to close the quarter. Luke Bitner started a string of seven extra point kicks he would accumulate in the game.
G-A score twice in each the second and fourth quarters. Byers and Scott each added a rushing score. Matt Montedoro got into the act with a scoring rush from two yards out and Joel Zola caught a 35 strike from Scott for a score.
Scott led the Devils on the ground with 98 yards and passed for 185 yards on 8-for-11 completions. Zola had five catches for 73 yards. Hunter Szaflarski, Kristian Sheeley and Adam Moore each had interceptions for the Devils.
