Chambersburg Public Opinion

There's only two weeks left in the regular season, and Shippensburg and Waynesboro might be playing their best football of the season.

Both will look to keep it going this week, but there's plenty of other action to look out for in the county.

Here are the games to watch this Friday night.

East Pennsboro (4-4) at Shippensburg (8-0)

Shippensburg's Nathan Beam takes off for a first down. Northern York challenged Shippensburg on Friday, October 8, 2021. The Greyhounds remain undefeated with a 21-3 victory.

Last week's results

East Pennsboro: Loss vs. Waynesboro 28-3

Shippensburg: Win at West Perry 48-14

Outlook: Shippensburg is two wins away from a perfect regular season. The Greyhounds are rolling on both sides of the ball, and East Pennsboro is coming off a game where they couldn't get much going offensively. The Shippensburg defense could continue to perform well in this one.

The pick: Shippensburg 31, East Pennsboro 10

Mechanicsburg (5-3) at Waynesboro (6-2)

Jaylon Bean looks over to the sideline as Waynesboro defeated East Pennsboro 28-3 on Friday, October 15

Last week's results

Mechanicsburg: Win vs. Susquehanna Twp. 21-12

Waynesboro: Win at East Pennsboro 28-3

Outlook: Waynesboro has plenty of motivation coming into this one, as Mechanicsburg rolled to a 35-7 win when these two teams faced off last year. Waynesboro comes in as the hotter team, and the way the defense is playing will give them confidence. This could be a close contest.

The pick: Waynesboro 23, Mechanicsburg 17

West Perry (4-4) at Greencastle-Antrim (3-5)

Greencastle teammates charge the field beforre gametime. Greencastle traveled to Waynesboro for Friday Night football, October 1, 2021. The Indians defeated the Blue Devils 28-14.

Last week's results

West Perry: Loss vs. Shippensburg 48-14

Greencastle: Loss at Northern York 24-13

Outlook: Greencastle comes into this game dropping three games in row. They're not out of it yet, and all three of those game were relatively close, so this one is still up for grabs. A consistent running game could pay dividends in this one.

The pick: Greencastle-Antrim 26, West Perry 21

Cumberland Valley (3-5) at Chambersburg (2-6)

Chambersburg's Andy Jean (3) celebrates a score with teammate Brice Flenory. Chambersburg hosted Red Lion on Friday, September 10, 2021. The Trojans defeated the Lions 21-7.

Cumberland Valley: Loss vs. Harrisburg 45-7

Chambersburg: Loss at CD East 40-7

Outlook: It's been a rough stretch for this young Chambersburg team, but Cumberland has been up and down this season. At the very least, this game presents an opportunity to get some positive experiences as we near the end of the season.

The pick: Cumberland Valley 28, Chambersburg 15

Juniata (6-2) at James Buchanan (1-6)

John Stoner (2) of James Buchanan scrambles. James Buchanan hosted Green Street Academy on Friday, September 17, 2021.

Last week's results

Juniata: Win vs. Newport 24-0

James Buchanan: Loss at Susquenita 42-7

Outlook: James Buchanan has also had a rough go of it as of late, and this is an extremely difficult challenge against Juniata, who has won four games in a row.

The pick: Juniata 49, James Buchanan 10
