GOLF: A busy summer for Penn National

FAYETTEVILLE – Recognized as one of the area’s premiere 36-hole venues, Penn National Golf Club is offering numerous opportunities to enjoy the game during the inviting months of summer.

Whether a beginner or seasoned competitor, Penn National is opening its facilities to all ability levels, headlined by its annual junior golf camps.

Available in six, separate four-day sessions, staffed professionals will introduce youngsters to the fundamentals of golf, providing encouraging and enjoyable instruction at the Golf Center.

The camps are open to ages 7-15 and will run from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday through Friday of each week.

Lessons comprise the first two hours of all four days, with an ‘open range’ period offered afterward, allowing an hour for campers to hit additional balls, chip and putt or play miniature golf.

“The mission of the junior camps is to help kids have fun learning the game of golf,” said assistant pro Kevin Reiber, who joins PGA professional Darin Peart as the camp instructors. “It’s a lifelong game that encourages family interaction and builds lasting memories. It’s important to get kids involved early and the camps are a great platform to do so.”

Dates of the six sessions include June 17-20, July 8-11, July 15-18, July 22-25, July 29-Aug. 1 and Aug. 12-15 with a registration fee of $120 per child.

Junior range memberships are also available for players 17-and-under, with a cost of $150 gaining use of the Golf Center’s driving range, practice green and chipping areas, a large bucket of range balls and 18-hole course access on Monday’s after 4 p.m.
