Kirkpatrick, Garns headed to states; baseball, softball to start district play

The postseason began over the weekend for Greencastle-Antrim athletes.

Taylor Kirkpatrick and Nikki Garns each punched a ticket to the PIAA State Championships over the weekend during the District 3-AAA Championship. Kirkpatrick will compete in the high jump and Garns in the 400.

The varsity baseball team begins District 3-AAA Tournament play with a 4:30 p.m. game today at Lancaster Catholic. The Blue Devils are the 13th seed and will face fourth-seeded Lancaster Catholic in the opening round.

The varsity softball team is the third seed in the District 3-AAA Tournament and will open play Tuesday in a game against 14th seed Middletown. The game si set for 4:30 p.m. at Carlisle High School.

All District 3 meets/tournaments have an admission charge of $6 for adults and $4 for students. No passes will be accepted at any site. There are no noise makers, banners, hand-held signs, or sirens permitted at any contests.
