G-A softball team works perfect week

Greencastle-Antrim was seeing double in taking care of divisional softball business very well last week, defeating both Shippensburg and Gettysburg by identical scores of 6-0. The effort put the Blue Devils at 6-2 in the Mid-Penn Conference Colonial Division and 8-3 overall.

Shippensburg could not solve G-A hurler Amanda Wink, who fanned seven batters on a two-hit complete shutout. The Blue Devils scored all they would need in the third when Jenna Crunkleton ripped a double to score Mary Ward, who had started the frame with a single. Insurance came in the fifth when Rachel Kline and Wink started off the inning each with doubles. Tiffany Briggs and Cassey Cordell each singled for RBIs. Ward, Wink and Cordell had two hits each.

Wink’s second shutout of the week was even more dominating. She struck out 10 Warrior hitters and scattered three hits. Meanwhile the Blue Devil bats were pinging off 14 hits en route to the win. Crunkleton and Cordell each delivered three hits. Cordell drove in four on the day, fueled by a bases-loaded triple. She also doubled and had a sacrifice. Nine different Blue Devils had basehits in the game.
