Amanda Wink fanned nine batters in each of the two games she pitched in last week.

Softball felt both sides of the coin last week as Greencastle-Antrim cashed in on a lopsided 10-1 win over James Buchanan before dropping a 6-3 decision to Northern. Both contests were Mid-Penn Conference Colonial Division matchups.

After playing three scoreless innings with the undefeated Polar Bears, Northern scored a run in  he fourth before G-A rebounded with a three-run fifth. Missed opportunities in the fourth when G-A loaded the bases with no outs and didn’t score that hurt the most when Northern responded with five runs in the bottom of the fith for the win.

Amanda Wink had two of the Devils’ five hits in an effort to help her own cause. She also drove in two runs. Rachel Kline also had an RBI. Wink fanned nine in the loss.

James Buchanan jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that was all for the Rockets. G-A plated its 10 runs over the next five frames to take control. The Blue Devils put on a 14-hit parade, led by a 3-for-3 effort from Jenna Crunkleton. Kline, Tiffany Briggs (two RBIs) and Cassey Cordell each delivered two hits. Wink added another nine Ks to her work for the week.
