Grace opens soccer season with Calvary

Grace Academy girls’ varsity soccer team opened its season on the short end of a 4-1 contest with Calvary Christian School.

Cavlary came out in force the first half with junior Savannah Reed scoring twice from the top of the key. Calvary junior Mikala Ultis put the third goal of the first half into the net.

Senior Kelsey Koontz, who took two direct shots on goal within the first five minutes of play, answered with the first goal of the season for Grace. The boot came from outside the 18 yard box.

Calvary ended the scoring in the second half as Ultis netted her second goal of the game.

Grace freshman Morgan Crespo had eight saves during her varsity debut as keeper.
