Corey Meyers made his senior home meeting against Waynesboro count big time for his Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devil soccer team (1-1, 1-1 MPC-Colonial). Meyers scored all three goals in a 3-1 win by G-A over the Indians for a solid start to the Mid-Penn Conference Colonial Division schedule.

In a game moved from Waynesboro during a very rainy week to the North Field of the new turf at Greencastle-Antrim, Meyers was a threat from the start. He took an early pass from Taylor Kirkpatrick and just missed the goal early. G-A continued to bother the Waynesboro defense as Zach Faulkner nearly put in a header off a rebound from another Meyers shot.

Despite the early opportunities by the home team, it was the Tribe that scored first 10 minutes into the game. G-A keeper Josh Spoonhour was kept busy by the Tribe for a bit. Both Greg Boyer and Noah Graham had good shots for the Devils, but the score was elusive. That is until 5:32 left in the first when Meyers connected with a Faulkner throw-in with his head for the tying goal.

The second half saw the Devils take control of the ball more and it paid off as Waynesboro didn’t score again, but twice Faulkner broke the ball to the corner and passed to Meyers who was at the right place for the scores and claimed the hat trick.

G-A led in shots on goals, 12-10, and corner kicks, 3-1. Spoonhour pulled in nine saves.

The Devils dropped the junior varsity contest, 1-0.
