Dual match season began for the Greencastle-Antrim volleyball team much as it usually does despite a number of  players new to varsity, with a lopsided win in the Mid-Penn Conference Capital Division. What was different this night was the opponent was James Buchanan, a team that usual gives the Blue Devils some trouble. Still, the result was a 3-0 lights out victory for G-A behind solid work all around the court.

The Devils sailed in the opening two sets with scores of 25-13 and 25-12. G-A never trailed in those two games and faced its only deficit in the third briefly before working to a 7-7 tie. That also dissipated quickly into a 25-12 win for the match.

G-A rounded up the match with 22 total kills and a service display that delivered 16 aces. Junior Nakita Gearhart was key with nine of the kills, six of the aces, along with two solo blocks and two block assists. Amanda Hammer lived up to her name at the net with six kills, including the match winner. Alex Baughman keyed the defense with seven digs. Setter Tiffany Briggs put up 15 assists. Morgynn McKenzie added three aces and two kills.

The junior varsity Devils made the most of their opening dual match with a 2-0 shutout by scores of 25-16 and 25-21.
