The first game that counts was played on the new turf at the stadium Saturday as the Greencastle-Antrim soccer team christened the surface by entertaining Jefferson and sending the Cougars packing with a 3-1 victory.
The game on the North Field started out with the Blue Devils scoring and ended the same way despite a 13-11 advantage in shots for Jefferson. The home team did dominate in corner kicks with six to one.
G-A had three different scorers with Jacob Warren, Zack Faulkner and Bryce Donahue all chalking up points. Taylor Kirkpatrick and Blaine Koons each had an assist.
Josh Spoonhour made a dozen saves in the cage for the Devils.
The junior varsity team dropped a 4-0 verdict.
