Time for Little League tourneys for Greencastle-Antrim teams

The PA District 14 Little League Baseball Inc. tournament season is underway. Greencastle is one of 14 local leagues in PA District 14. Tournaments will be held for District 14 Championships. Winners will progress through Section and State championships with the Majors (11-12) going Mid-Atlantic and eventually to the World Series.

Majors Division (11-12) began its tournament Saturday, June 25. Greencastle is hosting its games and used the home field well by dumping Gettysburg 13-1 in the pool play opener. Greencastle was to have played Shippensburg Tuesday and Pen Mar Wednesday to finish pool play.

Games of the Greencastle District 14 Major (11-12) team will be broadcast on-line for the preliminary and double elimination rounds. Play will begin Wednesday in the 10-11 tourney with Greencastle playing Dillsburg Thursday. All games are in Carlisle. Greencastle will play host Carlisle July 2, Shippensburg July 7 and Gettysburg July 9.

In the Minors Division (9-10) Greencastle started the tourney with a 30-15 victory in a wild affair before dropping a 15-5 slate to Shippensburg. The local squad came back strong Monday by clipping Pen Mar 15-2.

The Junior Division (13-14) begins pool play July 1. Greencastle will play Newville July 2, Shippensburg on July 6 and Pen Mar on July 8.

Greencastle also has a team in the Senior Baseball Division which will play a double elimination event with Newville July 13, 14 and 15.
