MAJOR LITTLE LEAGUE

Pirates 12, Dodgers 10

The Pirates ended their season on a high note by beating the Dodgers, 12-10.

The Dodgers got on the board first as hits were recorded by Campbell Parker, Liam Okal, Caleb Schaeffer and Matt Lynerd. The Pirates reponded in the second by hitting around the lineup and putting a five spot on the scoreboard. Brock Widder, Ben Ditch and Avery Wenger singled in the frame and Luke Herman doubled.

The game turned into a seesaw battle with the Dodgers batting around in the third to post five runs. Chance Clever and Schaeffer singled during the rally and Parker and Brady Shepherd each doubled. Hits from Tyler Douglas and Noah Brown fueled the Pirate tally in the fourth and they added to it in the fifth on singles from Widder, Wenger and Douglas.  Pirates kept the momentum going into the sixth inning where they scored four runs with help of a triple by Devon Harbaugh and a single by Luke Ritz.

Tyler Douglas  got the mound win and Luke Herman got the save. Douglas fanned seven and Herman’s relief held the Dodgers for the exciting second win for Pirate season.

CHAMBERSBURG SUBURBAN PONY LEAGUE

Marion 14, Guilford 3

The Marion Pony League defeated the Guilford Pony League 14-3 Tuesday.

Austin Simmers led Marion with three hits, including a double and three RBIs. Bradan Smith, Chandler Baum and Hunter Spoonhour all contributed two hits apiece. Smith and Spoonhour both had triples. Madison Armstrong had three RBIs for Marion. Baum recorded his third win of the year on the mound, striking out six over the final three innings of the six-inning game. He helped his cause by driving in two runs. Elijah Rickett doubled for the winners.

Marion 17, Hamilton Heights 9

Marion defeated Hamilton Heights 17-9 paced by the hiting of Johnny Myers, who had four singles and knocked in five runs. Bradan Smith had three hits and 5 RBIs, including a grand slam home run.  Caleb Thompson had three hits, including a triple. Elijah Rickett had three hits. Chandler Baum contributed two hits. Myers turned in a steady performance on the mound, picking up the win with 10 strikeouts through his five innings of work.

Marion 19, Scotland 5

The Marion Pony League ran their league record to 9-2, defeating the Scotland Pony League 19-5 Thursday night in Chambersburg Suburban Pony League action. Madison Armstrong, Bradan Smith, Johnny Myers and Austin Simmers each contributed two hits. Smith legged out a double among his hits.  Smith and Simmers each had three RBI's. Chandler Baum struck out four in three innings of relief work to record the win on the mound.
