G-AHS teams to play Monday

Two Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devil spring teams will be in action Monday as the softball team attempts to defend its Mid-Penn Conference Tournament Championship and to warm up for district competition, while the girls’ soccer team tries to punch its ticket to the first round of the District 3-AA Tournament.

As the champion of the MPC-Colonial Division, G-A heads into a four-team conference event. The Devils will face Central Dauphin in one semifinal at 6 p.m. Monday at Heishman Softball Complex in Newville. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. G-A has already qualified for the District 3-AAA Championships which begin Friday, May 20. Currently the Devils are in the sixth spot of the district power ratings.

The Blue Devil soccer team qualified for districts with its 9-6-2 record, however as the 18th seed it faces a play-in game against 15th seed Eastern Lebanon County (ELCO) at 7 p.m. Monday at ELCO (180 ELCO Drive, Myerstown, PA 17067). ELCO’s record going in is 12-6. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The winner of the game will earn a first round contest against second seeded Tulpehocken (15-0-1) at 7 p.m. May 18 at Tulpehocken’s field.
