McKenna Kissinger wins gymnastics title

McKenna Kissinger, a fifth-grade student at Greencastle-Antrim Elementary School, recently captured first place All-Around at the Sand Dollar Invitational Gymnastics meet. The competition was held at the ESPN Sports Center at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. Jan. 22. McKenna, a member of 4-Star Gymnastics in Williamsport, Md., competed in the 9-10 year old division. She defeated 26 girls for the title with a score of 36.975. She also placed first on bars with a 9.425, third on vault at 9.225, third on beam with 9.275 and fifth on floor at 9.05. McKenna placed 36th out of 492 Level 7 gymnasts from across the United States. The invitational hosted 1,972 gymnasts from Level 4 through 10, and McKenna ranked 123. She trains over 12 hours a week at the gym and dances over eight hours a week at Clarissa’s School of Performing Arts in Greencastle.
