The Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devil volleyball team was stopped in its quest for a district title Saturday by eventual champion Brandywine Heights.

The Devils dropped their semifinal match with Brandywine 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 27-25 at Central York High School. G-A led much of the third game, but Brandywine rallied to close the match in three sets.

Brandywine went on to win the district title by besting Susquehannock 3-1 with scores of 25-11, 25-23, 23-25 and 25-20.

The top two teams in the district advance to state competition. G-A had gone into the district tourney as the sixth ranked team in the state.

Statistically, Lauren Verhoef and Nakita Gearhart each put down eight kills. Chloe Hoover delivered six, Natasha Gibble six and Samantha Rudy had five. Geahart led with three blocks. Verhoef and Gibble added two each. Erin Garns put up 31 assists and had three aces at the service line. Rudy topped the board defensively with 11 digs.
