BOCA RATON, Fla. — Junior Kortney Eshleman of Greencastle is part of the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team that competed recently in the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational hosted by Lynn (Fla.).

Cal dropped matches to Rollins (Fla.), Colorado-Colorado Spring, No. 16 Lewis (Ill.) and host Lynn.

Eshleman directed the attack against Rollins with 16 assists. The former Blue Devil added eight digs.

The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team (0-4) opened the day with a 3-0 loss (10-25, 15-25, 19-25) to the nationally-ranked Flyers before losing to the host Fighting Knights, 3-0 (13-25, 23-25, 21-25).

junior setter Kortney Eshleman tallied 19 assists against Lewis and another 24 in the match against the hosts. Eshleman added  five kills on 11 attempts.

Millersville University

MILLERSVILLE — For the first time in six years the Millersville women’s volleyball team opened its campaign with a 3-0 mark, and a former Greencastle-Antrim athlete is in the mix. Kelsey Gearhart is a freshman hitter for the Marauders, who  blanked all of their opponents at the Dutch Country Spiketacular recently in its home gym. This also marks the first time since 1998 that the Black and Gold have won the tournament, and the first time in tournament history that Millersville defeated all of its opponents.

The Marauders downed Felician, Bowie State and Franklin Pierce.

Gearhart knocked own six of Millersville’s 33 kills against Bowie and had a block. She added six kills in the Felician match and seven more against Franklin Pierce with a block.
