Nathan Starliper rounds third and heads in to score the fifth run in Greencastle's 10-3 win over South Hanover to win the 9-10 District 14 Championship.

The Greencastle-Antrim 9-10 Little League Inc. team collected the District 14 title in its division, closing it out with a 10-3 win over South Hanover.

Pa Section 7 play begins for the 9-10 team Wednesday.

The team won its title behind the pitching of Nathan Starliper and a balanced hitting attack. Starliper struck out five and allowed just three hits with Jacob Shupp fanning the final batter.

Offensively the squad had nine players rack up hits, fueling an early 5-0 lead and rising it to the title.

Team members are: Ben Freeman, Chase Branchman, Matt Lynerd, Bryan Gembe, Tyler Haldeman, Tanner Rock, Joshua Painter, Noah Brown, Cade Bender, Nathan Starliper, Evan Maun and Jacob Shupp.

A balanced offensive attack and solid pitching led the team to the win.

Greencastle wasted little time jumping out to a 5-0 lead after one inning. Three walks combined with timely singles from Brown, Starliper and Bender gave Greencastle its strong start.

Greencastle bats were kept quiet by the South Hanover pitching staff until the bottom of the fifth inning when Maun led off with a double. That was followed by singles from Freeman and Lynerd, which drove in two runs. Gembe followed with a walk. He then stole second and scored along with Lynerd on Branchman's  single to right-center field. Branchman then stole second and scored when the South Hanover second baseman couldn't handle a sharply hit ball by Painter.

The newly-crowed  District 14 champs now move on to the Section 7 tournament that begins Wednesday in Quarryville.

Ben Freeman slides safely into third base during Greencastle's five run fifth inning. Greencastle defeated South Hanover 10-3 Friday evening in the championship game of the 9-10 District 14 Tournament.
