EDITORIAL: Thank you, Blue Devils

There’s nothing like a high school team that can keep its season going way past the printed schedule to get a town going. We’ve been lucky enough in Greencastle-Antrim to be a part of that a number of times in numerous sports.

On the basketball court it wasn’t long ago that the Blue Devils took us three times to the state tournament and who could forget, the state title game in 2007. That team didn’t win the state championship, but for most of us fans the disappointment is long gone and we only remember a fine, fine team that was oh so fun to watch. And so it is with this 2011-12 squad.

We saw the current crop of G-AHS round ballers take the program to new heights with a 20-0 record. And division titles don’t come along every day. This team did that too and in undefeated style. Soon enough most of us won’t remember any disappointment that the season ended in the first round of states. We will recall a team that took us to yet a new place in the scope of high school sports. And, they were fun to watch too.

Most of all we will remember the pride we took in your accomplishments. We thank you today and always for that. Great job, Blue Devils!
