Letter: Government leaders will keep taking, if taxpayers let them

Erie Times-News

In a recently published article, the head of the Internal Revenue Service was going over ways to get more efficient collection of revenue. I hate discourage his efforts, but it reminds me of what President Ronald Reagan said relative to us not having a revenue problem, but rather a spending problem.

Is any amount of revenue ever going to be enough to satisfy the "little bit more" mentality or keep up with the politicians whose main campaign promise is to get you more things at little no cost to you, as they say in the infomercials?

The givers — taxpayers /voters — need to set limits with our takers — our government leaders — because they have none.
