TITUSVILLE -- A city family escaped injury after a fire suspected of being set off by an electrical problem broke out in their home early Monday morning.

The Titusville Fire Department was sent to 411 N. Drake St. on Monday at 1:01 a.m. after a crew from Penelec, which the family had called to the house after they lost electric service, spotted smoke coming from the eaves of the residence, a Titusville fire official said Monday morning.

Titusville firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the residence and found fire in the rear portion of the second floor and heavy smoke and fire in the attic, the official said.

Titusville firefighters were assisted by crews from three neighboring volunteer fire departments and remained on scene until shortly after 5 a.m. Monday.
