G-A OHW Alumni Cup makes its debut this year
The Class of 1974 is currently the leading contender to be awarded the Greencastle-Antrim Alumni Association Old Home Week Alumni Cup, with the Classes of 1990 and 1994 tied in second place.
The Alumni Cup will be awarded for the first time during the G-A alumni banquet being held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the Blue Heron Events Center. G-A graduate Fred Davison will be the speaker and vocalist. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at OHW headquarters and on the GAEF website.
The trophy will go to the class with the most members in the G-A Alumni Association by Aug. 8. The traveling trophy will remain with the class until the next Old Home Week in 2022.
Greencastle-Antrim High School Alumni can join the association on the GAEF website. Levels of membership are: annual, $25; lifetime, $250; and distinguished, $1,000.
The alumni association was revived with last summer's hiring of Cheryl Brown as the executive director of the GAEF. The foundation raises funds to make a different for all G-A students through academics, the arts, athletics, Tayamentasachta and teacher grants. It is in the midst of a $650,00 capital campaign for restrooms, concessions and a ticket booth at Kaley Field.
Brown holds Foundation Fridays at the Echo Pilot office, 24 E. Baltimore St., twice a month and will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, during Old Home Week.
