The tree is lit, Santa arrived during the Christmas parade, turkeys have been stuffed and eaten and hunting season is in full swing.

Up next is the 28th annual Heritage Christmas celebration the first two Friday evenings in December in downtown Greencastle, as well as the Heritage Christmas Home Tour from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and 14, the community will be filled with the holiday spirit thanks to entertainment and annual favorites like Uncle Bean, horse and wagon rides, luminaries, pictures with Santa, Santa's Mailbox, the Holiday House, model railroad displays at the High Line Train Station and food and activities offered by community groups. Allison-Antrim Museum will be open both Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Light It Up contest runs through Dec. 18. Local residents can cast $1 votes for their favorite festive homes in Greencastle and Antrim Township, with proceeds going to the Greencastle-Antrim Food Bank.

The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce's scavenger hunt and window walk, featuring the crowns of Santa's reindeer is underway.

The Heritage Christmas Home Tour will include Tayamentasachta, the Greencastle-Antrim School District environmental center; three homes: the Henrichs Home, 2198 Castlegreen Drive, Greencastle, the Henry Home, 1331 Shannon Drive South, Greencastle, and the Seibert Home and Knob Hall Winery, 14108 St. Paul Road, Clear Spring; and Greencastle Church of the Brethren, where refreshments will be served.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. before the tour to mark renovations completed this summer at the Tayamentasachta farmhouse.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Tickets are available at the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, Carl's Drug Store, the shop and RE/MAX Elite Services.
