Greencastle Shop 'n Save isn't on list of closures

The Shop 'n Save at 500 N. Antrim Way in Greencastle is not on a list of 13 local stores SUPERVALU plans to close by Saturday, Sept. 8.

Grocery stores in Waynesboro, Chambersburg, Hagerstown, Winchester, Virginia, and Kearneysville, West Virginia, are being closed as SUPERVALU attempts to sell some of its stores.

According to a company news release, "SUPERVALU continues to pursue buyers for the eight remaining Shop 'n Save East locations, and employees at the 13 closing stores may apply for any open positions within the stores that continue to operate."

The Shop 'n Save East branch is comprised of stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.

Store locations that will be closing include:

  • 18717 N. Pointe Drive, Hagerstown 
  • 761 E Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown 
  • 18360 College Road, Hagerstown
  • 17718 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown 
  • 11105 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro 
  • 875 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg 
  • 4170 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg 
  • 190 Delco Plaza, Winchester, Virginia 
  • 2600 Valley Avenue, Winchester, Virginia
  • 249 Sunnyside Plaza Circle, Winchester, Virginia
  • 159 Grocery Ave., Winchester, Virginia
  • 707 Fort Collier Road, Winchester, Virginia
  • 50 Coast Guard Drive, Kearneysville, West Virginia

Four weeks of liquidation sales at the stores began on Sunday, Aug. 12.

The Shop 'n Save locations were Food Lion stores that were sold to SUPERVALU after the merger of the parent companies of Food Lion and GIANT/MARTIN'S in 2016.
