Green Grove Gardens plans community carnival

The Greencastle Community Carnival will be held Monday, July 2, to Saturday, July 7, at Green Grove Gardens, 1032 Buchanan Trail East.

The new summer celebration follows the announcement earlier this year that the Rescue Hose Co. was discontinuing its carnival for volunteer and profitability reasons.

"We wanted to keep the tradition going and give families in the community a place to go," said Jen Baker, event manager at Green Grove Gardens. "We want them to come out a celebrate."

There will be games, rides, concessions and entertainment nightly at the carnival running from 6:30 to 10.

Green Grove has reached out to community nonprofits to set up games, bingo and other activities.

"We would love for more to come and set up for a good cause," said Baker. Any group interested can call Baker or Keith McCleaf at 717-597-0800.

Rides with be by Snyder's Amusements and carnival-goers can ride all night with a $20 wristband.

The tentative entertainment lineup is:

Monday, July 2 — Beat Committee DJ Milk and DJ Gifted Son (WNUZ), 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 3 — Jack n' Tony Shenanigans (WBHB), 7 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday, July 4 — TBA

Thursday, July 5 — Kenton Sitch, 6:30 p.m.; Bucky Covington, 7:30 p.m.

Friday, July 6 — Devon Nickoles, 7 to 9 p.m.

Saturday, July 7 — Stif Dills, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
