Emma Witmer honored as Citizens of the Month

The Greencastle Exchange Club recently recognized Emma Witmer as its March Citizen of the Month. Faculty members at Greencastle-Antrim Middle School recommended the young lady based on the following criteria: work ethic, citizenship, academics, good character, extracurricular activities and contribution to the school environment.

Emma is the daughter of Wendy and Nelson Witmer. She is a member of the middle school choir where she not only sings, but also accompanies the group on the piano. This eighth-grader also enjoys sports and participates in field hockey and track and field events.

Her science teacher, Derek Anthony, said that Emma was an outstanding choice for this award as she is an excellent student who eagerly asks questions in order to learn as much as she can about various classroom topics. He noted her sense of humor and kind ways when working with her peers.

Emma's interests outside of school include reading, art, and sewing.
