United Way closing in on goal
The United Way of Franklin County has two more months to reach the goal set for this year's annual fundraising campaign.
The 75th campaign kicked off in September with events in Chambersburg, Greencastle, Mercersburg and Waynesboro. It runs through February.
To date, the organization has raised about 80 percent of the $900,000 needed to support 27 local nonprofit programs.
“With just under $170,000 to go, United Way of Franklin County is hoping for a strong end to the year, and continued giving during the next two months,” said Amy Hicks, United Way executive director.
Campaign funds stay in the community and will go to support programs such as pre-K learning, financial stability and skill development and health.
United Way supported programs are focused on goals that relate to preparing children for early learning and school readiness, and developing skills that lead to stable and rewarding work, building healthy relationships and practicing habits that will ensure long-term health.
The campaign also supports the work of other area non-profits by helping donors give to their favorite charities through donor designation.
