The Shady Grove Improvement Association is in the process of upgrading its children’s playground to make it safer and handicapped accessible.

The association is seeking donations toward the $40,000 project and already has received contributions from Manitowoc and BB&T.

Shady Grove Ruritan (SGR) and Shady Grove Improvement Association (SGIA) have been serving local residents for over 60 years.

Each year SGR awards scholarships to local college students and sponsors Cub Scout Pack 95, Boy Scout Troop 95 and Venture Crew 95.

SGR and SGIA offer facilities available for rent and recreation areas open to community, including an auditorium, kitchen, picnic pavilion, children’s playground, basketball court, tennis court and ballfields, which are also used by girls fast pitch softball.
