Survey respondents favor changing borough office hours

The majority of people who responded to a survey favor changing the office hours at Greencastle Borough Hall.

The matter still needs to be reviewed by the administration and finance committee, but Eden Ratliff hopes for a borough council vote at the meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The borough office is currently open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The proposal is to change the hours to:

Monday: 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The idea behind the change is that some residents cannot conduct business with the borough between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. because they are working out of town.

Some people who responded to the survey agreed saying that they work full-time and cannot go to the office during the day, Ratliff said.

Other comments said it would be nice for the staff to be off early on Friday if they work late Monday and that being open later coordinates better with Monday night borough meetings.
