The Jerome R. King Playground in Greencastle has gone smokefree and Young Lungs at Play! signs are being erected.

Playground board members are encouraging all Pennsylvania cities, municipalities, school districts and county government to join them in eliminating children’s exposure to second-hand smoke at public parks, playgrounds and playing fields.

Young Lungs at Play! is a no cost tobacco-free parks and playgrounds initiative that has been proven successful in other parts of Pennsylvania and the country, according to a news release from the playground board. The program is supported by and funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
