Field set for November election

Voters in Greencastle and Antrim Township really had no local choices on Tuesday’s primary election ballot, with the number of candidates on the Republican and Democratic tickets equal to or less than the number of positions available.

However, there will be contests on Nov. 7 for Antrim Township supervisor, Greencastle Borough Council and Greencastle-Antrim School Board.

Magisterial District Judge Duane Cunningham cross-filed on both tickets and was unopposed as he moves toward re-election. He got the nod from 675 Republicans and 202 Democrats.

This fall, Republican incumbents John Alleman and Pat Heraty will be challenged for a township supervisor’s seat by Connie Slye, the only Democratic candidate.

In Greencastle, there will be four Republicans — Matthew D. Smith, Craig Myers, Steve Miller and Larry Faight — and one Democrat — Wade Burkholder — running for four borough seats this fall. Republican Ben Thomas Jr. was the only candidate for mayor and received 190 votes.

For the four seats on the Greencastle-Antrim School board, the Republicans nominated James Winslow, Linda Farley, Pat Fridgen and Scott Hart. On the Democratic side, it is Pat Fridgen, who cross-filed, and Michael Wolter.

Republican tax collectors Barbara Bock in the Borough of Greencastle and Sue Myers were unopposed.
