Loan will cover design of ATMA water line extension

Antrim Township will loan Antrim Township Municipal Authority the money to design a possible future water line extension.

Supervisors agreed last week to loan ATMA up to $52,000 for what is being called the Rocking M water line extension because it is in the area of Rocking M Lane, according to Brad Graham, township administrator. Rocking M Lane is near Interstate 81 south of Exit 3 and one area of potential growth is the Musselman property north of Milnor Road.

No plans for the 155-acre industrial site have been discussed, but ATMA wants to be prepared if development becomes a possibility or grant funding becomes available.

ATMA will not have to start paying the township back until the water line is constructed, according to Graham. At that time, the loan will be for a maximum of 20 years at no interest.

ATMA got quotes from four firms for the project decision and still needs to make a final decision about which one to hire.
