Two G-A indoor groups win titles

The Greencastle-Antrim Percusssion Ensemble continued its championship form during the weekend, collecting the Blue Division of the Keystone Indoor Association Championship at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg. The G-A middle school guard also shined, winning the title in the middle school division that featured eight competitors.

Greencastle-Antrim’s entries in the Keystone Indoor Association Championships held Saturday, April 2 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Arena brought home lots of hardware.

The Percussion Ensemble scored an 89.7 to win the Blue Division championship. North Hagerstown was second with 89.1 and Susquehannock third with 86.9.

In just its second year of existence, G-A’s middle school indoor guard captured first at championships, besting seven other groups. In order of finish the competition was, Red Land, Western Heights, Linganore, Northeastern, Mechanicsburg, Mechanicsburg, Wilson and West Perry.

The high school indoor guard also did well with a fourth in the 11-guard White Division. G-A score 79.0. Winning the group was Urbana (84.1). Allegany was second with 82.75 and Liberty third at 79.9. The rest of the division finished as follows: 5. Cedar Cliff, 78.7; 6. Arundel, 78.6; 7. Reservoir, 78.25; 8. Severna Park, 77.7; 9. Linganore, 75.75; 10. Waynesboro, 74.95; 11. South Hagerstown, 73.00.

G-A’s high school groups will compete again Saturday, April 16 at the TIA Chapter 6 Championships set at 3 p.m. in Cumberland Valley High School. In the mean time the groups will travel with the G-AHS concert choir, chamber choir, G-Castle Jazz, concert band, jazz-rock ensemble April 8 and 9 to the Fiesta Festival in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
