Harrison Scott, a seventh-grade student at Greencastle-Antrim Middle School, placed 10th at the Central PA Spelling Bee on Feb. 26. The championship was captured by Joanna Ye, Carlisle, who won last year and then placed fifth at the national level. Harrison’s parents, Harry and Susanna Scott, reported that he successfully spelled oolong, mukhtar, autobahn, cruller, misogynist, visceral and arachnid, and went down on reify. Harrison won a number of prizes for his efforts, and is anxious to try again next year. WITF will air the Bee March 2 at 7 p.m. and March 4 at 1 p.m.
