Computer classes offered at Besore

The Franklin County Library System will be offering a variety of free computer classes on a monthly basis in 2011. The class topics and branch locations for classes will vary monthly and will be taught by Jill Yaich, head of Reference Services.

January classes include:

Computer Basics — This course is for everyone who just needs a bit more confidence when placed in front of a computer. Basic computer terminology will be taught as well as hands on experience with turning on a computer, using a mouse and navigating the desktop.

Computer Basics will be held at the following Franklin County Library System branches:

Besore Memorial Library, Greencastle, Jan. 27, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Fulton County Library, McConnellsburg, Jan. 20, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Grove Family Library, Chambersburg, Jan. 24, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Coyle Free Library, Chambersburg, Jan. 26, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Internet Basics — This course is for those comfortable with using a mouse and a basic knowledge of the computer desktop. It will help with better understanding of how the internet works, including basic internet terminology, how to navigate a website and how to search the internet.

Internet Basics will be held at the following Franklin County Library System branches: Besore Memorial Library, Greencastle, Jan. 27, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; Fulton County Library, McConnellsburg, Jan. 20, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; Grove Family Library, Chambersburg, Jan. 24, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; Coyle Free Library, Chambersburg, Jan. 26, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

All of the computer classes will have lots of hands-on experience and take home materials so the educational experience can be continued at home. Anyone interested in any other computer class topics such as resume/job searching, and Microsoft Office tutorial, watch for February listings as several libraries will be offering these topics and more in the coming months.
