G-A band wins opening event

The Greencastle-Antrim High School field band started the season off very well last weekend.

The local band topped three other units in the American Conference (Group 2) at the New Oxford Competition Saturday, Sept. 12. The winning score of 74.65 was more than three points ahead of the runner-up, Blue Mountain (71.55). Littlestown was third with 69.6 and Bermudian Springs was fourth with 69.5.

G-A also was named Best Percussion of the competition.

Five other bands competed in other divisions of the competition.

G-A will next compete at the 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 Hempfield Competition in Landisville.
