Three friends who began a back-to-school project two years ago through Leadership Franklin County continued the program in 2009, and are again asking the public to contribute to the cause.

Doug Bitner, Kristian Frank and Dana Kaiser formed Caring for All, and are raising money to provide school supplies and shoes to financially-challenged households in the Greencastle-Antrim School District. To date they have helped 520 children be ready for school, and believe the supplies helped the youngsters gain a sense of pride and acceptance because they were as equipped as their peers.

Superintendent C. Gregory Hoover and G-ASD provided the trio the names of eligible families. In 2008 and 2009 they raised $16,000.

"We know that the current economic situation has affected most of us in one way or another, but as much as it has affected us, it has drastically affected those in the lowest income brackets," said Frank. "I ask each of you to consider making a donation to CFA as you will be affecting a life right here in the Greencastle area, as 100 percent of the funds help local kids."

The Greencastle-Antrim Education Foundation, a 501c3 corporation, will oversee all contributions, which are tax deductible, Frank said.

Checks made payable to G-AEF may be mailed to Dana Kaiser, 3698 W. Weaver Road, Greencastle PA 17225.
