The Greencastle-Antrim High School Drama Club will present the musical “42nd Street” this weekend in the school’s auditorium.

The musical, which stars Sallianne Crawford as Dorothy Brock, Shyanne Smith as Peggy Sawyer and Andrew Mowen as Julian Marsh, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 28.

Based on the 1933 movie musical, 42nd Street is the tale of a small-town actress named Peggy Sawyer who comes to New York City to audition for the new Julian Marsh directed musical about to open on Broadway.  Peggy can't seem to stay in the good graces of the show's aging leading lady Dorothy Brock, and things only get worse when she accidentally breaks Dorothy's ankle.  The new show is doomed for closure, until it is suggested that Peggy take the leading role. In only 36 hours, Peggy becomes a star!

With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, the classic musical includes the numbers We're in the Money, Lullaby of Broadway, Dames, and of course, 42nd Street.   The many jazz and tap dancing numbers make 42nd Street one of the largest dancing musicals ever produced.

In addition to Crawford, Smith and Mowen, the casts consists of Amelia Thorne, Breton Carlson, Amber Crider, Sarah Jansen, Madeline Heraty, Anna Nowell, Kessley Carlson, Seth Izer, Kolby Martin, Drey Hepfer, Sean Clement, Hannah Martin, Evan Smith, Eric Bowman, Paul Herman, Frances Greenlee, Skylynn Whittington, Kyle Hayes, Jared Poper, Courtney Campbell, Mariah Kissinger, Maggie Rose Crawford, Patti Kotrady, Brooke Daley, Lauren Durniak, Nakita Gearhart, Zaira Gomez, Ekaterina Kononova, Mariah Martin, Aubree Poole, Katie Pryor, Sangini Shah and Marie Siefker.

The technical crew consists of Ben Harp, Pete Oppliger, Austin Stoler, Ben Stouffer, J.P. Wentz and Eric Witmer
