Just after 10 a.m. traffic is still reduced to single lane at the Marion exit of I-81 following a tractor trailer crash around 5 a.m.

A tractor trailer driver is dead following a crash on Interstate 81 at the Marion exit just before 5 a.m. that still has travel slowed on the highway.

Pennsylvania State Police spokesman Trooper Robert Hicks said that the driver was traveling north on the interstate when at 4:52 a.m. communicated by radio with a truck driver behind him that he wasn’t feeling well. Hicks said that moments later the tractor trailer veered off the road and traveled a couple hundred yards alongside the interstate in the grassy shoulder before “striking a cement storm drain and bursting into flames.”

Hicks added that the other driver stopped to try to give aid, but because of the intense fire there was nothing he could do.

The driver, whose name is not yet being released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near mile marker 10.

The northbound lane of 81 is reduced to one lane. Hicks estimated that cleanup would take at least another couple of hours.
