Two telephone poles were snapped off at the ground and power interrupted for five hours for some customers after a one-vehicle crash Thursday, July 18 at the intersection of Grant and North Allison streets in Greencastle.

Greencastle Police reported Gloria Forrester, 49, of Greencastle failed to yield the right-of-way at Grant and North Allison streets to an approaching vehicle at 12:20 p.m. July 18.

The car she was driving struck a telephone pole, which damaged another pole and pulled wires from at least one home.

Merritt Hammond of Allison Street photographed the aftermath.

A parked vehicle was narrowly missed by the fallen second pole. Work crews replaced two poles.
