A raccoon found in the northwest area of Greencastle was euthanized and disposed of, after it showed signs of being ill, according to a report issued by the Greencastle Police Department. No human or animal exposure was reported.

Greencastle police urge residents to refrain from contact with wildlife.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission states that rabies could be indicated in animals that “exhibit abnormal behavior such as excitability, apparent lack of fear or aggression.”

If in doubt about an animal, people may contact the PA Game Commission or local law enforcement.
