Barn destroyed in early morning fire

A barn on the northern border of Antrim and Hamilton townships was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning.

The cause and origin of the 1:43 a.m. blaze at the 4987 Guitner Road barn owned by Thelma and Arthur Cover of Chambersburg is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit. Authorities did not say if the cause of the fire is suspicious.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Franklin M. Hershey Jr. said the damage is estimated at $25,000.

According to reports, Marion Fire Company, along with units from eight others, were on the scene for about three and a half hours and were called for a rekindle of the fire around 8 a.m. Reportedly the barn  contents included hay.
