Robber targets elderly; three home invasions in Antrim
Four home invasions occurred in Franklin County in the early morning hours of Jan. 8, including three in Antrim Township.
Pennsylvania State Police report that a man of small to medium build, between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, broke into four residences, or entered through an unlocked door, to steal from elderly females. The victims ranged in age from 73 to 84 and lived on Buchanan Trail East in Shady Grove, Gearhart Road, Leitersburg Pike, and Wayne Highway in Quincy Township. A 51-year-old daughter was also present in one home.
The suspect entered the houses between 1:17 and 4:16 a.m. He demanded money and gave verbal threats. No one was injured but he stole cash and jewelry.
Police believe the incidents could be related to two similar Dec. 22 robberies, as well as a Jan. 8 home robbery of an 85-year-old woman in Washington Township.
Police are asking for help in indentifying the robber. Homeowners are reminded to keep doors locked, leave lights on and take proactive measure to be safe. They also advise people to look out for their elderly neighbors who live alone.
