Greencastle police are warning residents to be wary of strangers appearing at their doors, offering to assist with property issues. A home on Walter Avenue fell victim to burglars on Dec. 18.

Between 3:30 and 4 p.m. two white males, speaking with accents, appeared at the door and suggested there was a possible problem with the water pressure in the home. They were invited inside.

While the men spoke with the victims in separate locations, a third person apparently secretly entered the house and stole approximately $500 in cash.  Items in other rooms were moved or disturbed. A vehicle of interest is a late 2000s champagne colored or off-white Chevrolet Trailblazer.

“Residents are urged to take caution in inviting individuals into their residences that claim to be able to assist with issues with water pressure, electrical or power problems, or roofing or paving scams,” police said.

Anyone with information on the burglary should contact the Greencastle Police Department at 717-597-9506.
