DUI enforcement planned

The Franklin County DUI Task Force, coordinated by the Washington Township Police Department, announced that DUI enforcement will be conducted throughout the task force’s jurisdictional areas.  Members include police departments from Greencastle, Waynesboro, Chambersburg, Shippensburg, Mercersburg, Washington Township and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.  Impaired driving enforcement will be increased to coincide with the National Enforcement Crackdown.

This planned enforcement is part of PennDOT’s impaired driving program targeting motorists who operate vehicles while under the influence. The program is comprised of law enforcement officers from numerous municipal DUI task forces along with Pennsylvania State Police and other law enforcement agencies.

Crashes involving impaired persons are entirely preventable. Motorists should keep their families, themselves, and other motorists safe by designating a driver or not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Never drive impaired.  Never ride with an impaired driver.  When you drive impaired your whole family is affected.

When you are on the road traveling, protect your family from an impaired driver, and always make certain everyone in the vehicle is buckled — your first defense against an impaired driver.
