A fire that destroyed a barn and the hay inside it, both owned by Greencastle men, was intentionally set, according to the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit.

Police ruled Thursday afternoon that the fire at 3054 Coldsmith Road in St. Thomas Township, called in around 1 a.m. Wednesday, as arson. The barn and some contents was owned by Daniel E. Brechbill of Greencastle, police said, while Charles Eichelberger Jr. of Greencastle owned hay stored in the building. The barn and its contents were destroyed, while several outbuildings sustained fire damage, according to police.

The police report said “through scene examination and interviews it has been determined the fire was intentionally set.”

Police ask that anyone with information on the crime to contact Trooper Franklin M. Hershey Jr. at the Chamebrsburg station at 264-5161 and refer to incident number H03-2235156.
