Arrests made in rash of storm grate thefts

Two Fulton County men have been charged in the thefts of storm grates in Antrim and two other Franklin County townships during the past month.

Pennsylvania State Police report John Pittman Jr., 22, and Zachary Pittman, 23, both of McConnellsburg, have been charged with numerous thefts of storm grates owned by Antrim Township, Peters Township and Montgomery Township, as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Police said they located the suspects after the two men allegedly attempted to steal an additional storm grate at an unspecified location and time.

According to the police report, the men admitted to stealing approximately 20 storm grates in the span of about a month. Police said the thefts happened between May 1 and 24.

The men were placed in the Franklin County Jail, police said.
