The man jailed in the death of Keith Monninger, 37, Greencastle, in a motor vehicle accident on March 7, received an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter on April 10.

Leon Chalmers Deardorff, 29, Mercersburg, is scheduled for arraignment in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on June 6. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week. He is being held in Franklin County Jail without bail.

Pennsylvania State Police allege that Deardorff fled the scene after his box truck struck Monninger’s motorcycle on Social Island Road at U.S. 11 South, and that he was driving on a suspended license for driving under the influence. The truck was found in Harrisburg the next day and Deardorff turned himself in on March 10 in Carlisle.

The initial felony charges were homicide by vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, and leaving the scene while not properly licensed. He also had misdemeanor charges and traffic violations.
