Miles trial delayed until Feb. 2013
The murder trial of Jeffrey Miles Sr. has been moved to February 2013. Miles, 28, State Line, was in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas March 9. He is charged with criminal homicide in the death of Kristy Dawn Hoke, Hagerstown, Md., who was allegedly stabbed with scissors. Her body was found near Waynesboro in a wooded area in April 2010. She was a police confidential informant.
President Judge Douglas Herman refused to sign a new judge or defense team to Miles, who had requested such. Friday's hearing addressed motions filed by Miles. The defendant wanted public defender Mike Toms fired. Herman instead made Waynesboro attorney Eric Weisbrod lead counsel and Toms the assistant.
On the same day Hoke's body was found, police discovered the skeletal remains of Angie Lynn Daley, 17, on a nearby farm. She disappeared in 1995. No one has been charged in her death.
